Synopsis: In the Book of Exodus God offers Israel, and us, a covenant of love and healing service to God and all creatures. There is another covenant that the world offers to us everyday. This is the covenant of the "free market." This covenant asks for our total loyalty. Unlike God's covenant, however, it demands that we always think of our own desires first. Lent is the time for us to ask ourselves, "To which of these two covenants does my soul belong?"
