Reflection:  “Leaving and Following”

     Synopsis:  When Jesus called Peter and the other early disciples, we are told that “they left everything and followed Jesus” (Lk. 5:11).  Peter and his business partners had just caught a huge haul of fish, which would be worth a lot of money.  But, scripture says, they left the catch of fish.  And, they left their business.  In fact, they left everything that might stand between them and Jesus, thus putting Jesus first in their lives.  Faced with their example, we might well ask whether Jesus is first in our lives.  If not, what stands between us and Jesus?
