Synopsis: As we celebrate Independence Day this year, we would do well

to remember that God and our nation—indeed, God and any nation—are

not one entity. They are two separate beings that belong to two

different realities. Those who try to blend them together into one

creature risk creating a kind of Frankenstien’s monster, an out of control

being which will bring no honor to God or peace to the nation.
