Synopsis: In Mark’s Gospel this week, Jesus heals Simon-Peter’s mother-in=law of a fever and she immediately begins to serve Jesus and his first disciples. Is that all she’s meant to do? A narrow reading leaves us frustrated, but if we broaden our imaginations we can step beyond the Gospel passage into the ways God in Christ serves us and the means by which we can return the favors.
